Celebrate the Colours. Protect Your Glow.

Holi is here! The festival of colours, laughter, music, and togetherness. Across India, streets fill with bright gulal, water balloons, dance, sweets, and smiling faces. From dry colours in some regions to playful splashes of coloured water in others, Holi is all about celebration, freedom, and joy.

But while we soak in the vibrance, our skin and hair quietly face seasonal stress.

Dry Colours or Wet Colours. Does It Matter?

In many parts of India, Holi is played with dry herbal gulal. In others, colours are mixed with water and enjoyed through pichkaris and playful splashes.

Water helps dilute pigments and reduces direct friction of dry powders on the skin. When played moderately, wet colours may cause less abrasive damage compared to constant rubbing of dry powders. However, prolonged exposure to chemical based colours, whether dry or mixed in water, can still lead to dryness, irritation, and rough texture.

The key is not avoiding celebration. It is preparing your skin and hair before stepping out.

Why Skin and Hair Become More Sensitive During Holi

Holi falls during seasonal transition. As winter shifts toward summer, dryness naturally increases and the skin barrier becomes slightly vulnerable.

Add synthetic dyes, artificial pigments, and prolonged sun exposure, and you may notice dryness and itching, redness or burning, post Holi dullness or pigmentation, frizzy brittle hair, and scalp irritation.

This does not mean you should fear the festival. It simply means you should prepare wisely.

The Ayurvedic Pre Holi Protection Ritual

Ayurveda recommends Abhyanga, or oil application, before exposure to heat and environmental stress.

A nourishing layer of oil acts as a natural shield. It reduces colour absorption, supports moisture balance, and helps skin remain resilient even after hours of celebration.

Before stepping out, apply Ojas Abhyanga Oil on exposed areas and use Ojas Shata Dhauta Ghrita on sensitive regions like the face and neck for cooling protection. Oil your hair well to prevent dryness and breakage.

Pre-Holi oiling strengthens roots and reduces moisture loss. After celebration, cleanse gently using Ojas Hair Wash to remove colour residues without stripping natural oils.
