Ayurvedic Treatment for Allergy in Pune

In Ayurveda, allergies are primarily caused by an imbalance in the Kapha and Pitta doshas, combined with a weakened digestive fire (Agni). When digestion is poor, the body creates Ama (metabolic toxins), which circulates in the blood and settles in the respiratory or skin tissues. When you encounter a trigger, these toxins cause an inflammatory response, resulting in symptoms like sneezing, itching, or rashes. We treat allergies by clearing these toxins and restoring digestive balance.

For acute symptoms like a sudden skin rash or hay fever, patients often feel relief within 3 to 7 days of starting treatment. However, for chronic or seasonal allergies that have persisted for years, a comprehensive treatment plan of 3 to 6 months is usually recommended. This duration allows the body to undergo a full detoxification cycle and build a robust immune shield (Ojas) to prevent future recurrences.

Dietary discipline is critical in allergy management. You should strictly avoid "Abhishyandi" foods—those that cause congestion and block body channels—such as curd, heavy fermented foods (Idli, Dosa), and refined sugar. Cold drinks and ice creams should be avoided as they aggravate Kapha. We also recommend limiting "Viruddha Ahara" (incompatible food combinations), such as mixing milk with sour fruits or fish, as these are primary triggers for chronic skin and respiratory allergies.

Panchakarma is the most effective way to "reset" an allergic immune system. For respiratory allergies (Asthma/Rhinitis), Vamana (Therapeutic Vomiting) is used to expel excess Kapha from the chest. For skin allergies (Urticaria/Eczema), Virechana (Purgation) is used to flush out Pitta toxins from the liver and blood. Additionally, Nasya (Nasal Drops) is highly effective for nasal allergies as it creates a protective oil barrier in the respiratory tract, preventing allergens from entering the system.
