Once again, we are in the Covid wave. This is the third wave we are facing. Till date the severity of the disease is fortunately mild and less hospitalizations are required as compared to first two waves.

Many people are getting tested positive for Covid-19 and since, the symptoms are mild they are suggested home quarantine for 7 to 14 days. Now, here is the difference. While it is absolutely a good change that it is being cured with just home quarantine, we need to be alert on some fronts. What will you eat and drink in quarantine period?

Most important is your diet. What you eat gives you immunity is the rule. So it is very important to take care of your diet.

MOST IMPORTANT THINGS IN COVID DIET PLAN ARE AS FOLLOWS

  • Always eat very freshly cooked and hot meals.
  • Have warm water sip by sip in a day.
  • Get good sleep.
  • Avoid eating very spicy, deep fried food. Do not munch in between two meals. Take your meals right time.

COVID DIET PLAN - BREAKFAST FOR COVID-19 POSITIVE PATIENT

For breakfast – You can have

1) Freshly cooked hot Daliya

2) Green moong steamed and garnished with salt, cumin seeds and black pepper powder.

3) Have pan cake of rice flour mixed with moong flour. Add some ajwain seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, salt and freshly cut spinach to it.

4) Steamed vegetables garnished with pure ghee, salt and black pepper powder

COVID DIET PLAN - LUNCH FOOD FOR COVID-19 POSITIVE PATIENT

For lunch –You can have freshly prepared chapatti (roti, Indian bread), 1 bowl daal (cereal), 1 bowl steamed salad (green salad) and a half bowl of vegetable which is not spicy. You can have steamed hot rice with ghee if you want.

WHAT TO AVOID:

Avoid eating curds, buttermilk, milk, cheese, paneer in meals. Also all vegetables should be mild to taste without spicy gravy.

COVID DIET PLAN - DINNER FOOD FOR COVID-19 POSITIVE PATIENT

Dinner – Have 1 or 2 bowl of soup. It can be a mixed vegetable soup or chicken clear soup as well !  Then have moong daal khichadi with ghee or have plain daal and rice. Biryani is not recommended as it is a heavy, spicy version of rice.

If you have good appetite then only go for chapati, vegetables, daal like full meals. To have light dinner leads to good digestion.

Do not eat anything after dinner. Avoid drinking tea/coffee late night.

WHAT TO AVOID:

Avoid cold drinks, milkshakes, milk with chocolate. Herbal tea,green tea is always a welcome !

Those who are non vegetarians can have eggs, chicken in the diet but the preparations should very mild and without gravy. So they can go for an omlette and a chicken soup.

LIST OF GOOD FOODS FOR COVID-19

All pulses,all fresh vegetables, all grains, fruits (strictly fresh and not refridgerated), eggs, chicken

But, preparation matters. So make all preparations very mild and have them fresh and hot !

Remember, good nutrition is key to health. So having such a good and fresh food will help you recover faster. It will not lead to further problems like acidity, constipation, indigestion. It would help built your immunity which helps you in long run post Covid !
